A guardianship is a process by which a person is adjudicated to lack capacity to manage their own affairs. Whether that person is 19 or 99, it's still the same thing. However, when a guardianship is sought, it's important to try to make it as limited as possible, so that the persons subject to the guardianship will retain as many personal rights, due process rights, as possible. Something as simple as driving a vehicle or being able to make a decision about whether to marry or what religious institution to attend can be rights that you want your person to be able to retain.
