I heard I can give away $10,000 and not have any problems. Is that true?

When people talk about giving $10,000 away, they're usually referring to the annual gifting. They're not thinking about Medicaid and nursing homes. So under the Medicaid rules, a person cannot give away $10,000 a year every year and not have an issue with the Medicaid penalizing them when they go to apply to get nursing home benefits.
